The confirmed baseline

Confirmed

Rockstar’s current site confirms the November 19, 2026 release date and lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its synopsis names Jason and Lucia and describes a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. PlayStation’s listing describes GTA VI as a single-player experience, with one player and offline play enabled.

Those are useful purchasing and preparation facts, but they are not a complete list of mechanics. A platform listing can answer whether a console is supported without answering the details of police behaviour, weapons, driving assistance or how story progression works.

PS5 features explicitly described by Sony

Confirmed

Sony’s GTA VI page lists Tempest 3D Audio, fast loading using the PS5 SSD, DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and use of the controller’s integrated speaker. It also labels the game PS5 Pro Enhanced. We attribute those claims to the platform holder rather than presenting them as our own hands-on test.

Feature support is not a benchmark. These descriptions do not give us a measured loading time or a universal resolution and frame-rate guarantee. They also do not establish that a particular PS5-specific controller effect works identically on Xbox hardware.

Wanted levels, police AI and combat details

Not officially confirmed

This guide does not certify a particular wanted-star count, police memory system, surrender mechanic, weapon-carry limit or combat skill tree. The official text sources cited here do not document those systems in enough detail to support such claims. We will only add specifics with an explicit source or clearly described testing of the released game.

A scene involving law enforcement or a weapon can show part of the game’s presentation without explaining the underlying player rules. Promotional editing, scripted sequences and ordinary gameplay are not interchangeable forms of evidence. That is why we do not extrapolate a full mechanics list from a few shots.

Single player does not confirm a new GTA Online

Confirmed

PlayStation’s FAQ answers the multiplayer question by describing GTA VI as a single-player experience. Take-Two’s pre-order announcement discusses a GTA+ promotion connected to the existing GTA Online and Rockstar games library. Neither statement should be rewritten as a confirmed GTA VI online launch mode.

We do not infer co-op, cross-play, online character migration, shared progression or the timing of any future multiplayer release from that promotion. Existing GTA Online support and an unannounced GTA VI multiplayer offering are separate subjects. Check future Rockstar announcements for an explicit connection.

Rumors stay outside the confirmed feature list

Rumors — not confirmed

Claims of universal 60 fps, a particular PC launch month, fully enterable buildings, a specific map-size multiplier or a co-operative story mode are not confirmed in the sources reviewed for this page. They are not included in our confirmed checklist, even when repeated across many fan posts.

Repetition is not additional evidence if every article points back to the same unsupported claim. To change a rumor’s status here, we need a public primary-source statement or a clearly attributed, limited observation. We would also retain the distinction between what was demonstrated and what is promised for every platform.

How to use this FAQ near launch

Practical guidance

Use the release guide for editions and platforms, the preload guide for dates and storage, and the character and setting pages for spoiler-light background. The trailer timeline links directly to official videos so that commentary can be checked against the original material.

This site is an unofficial editorial hub. “Confirmed” means supported by the linked source at our last review, not personally tested by this site or guaranteed against later changes. After release, practical guides should identify the platform and version tested rather than carrying pre-release assumptions forward.
