The current official release date

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. Rockstar’s current GTA VI website, PlayStation’s game page and Xbox’s game page all give that date. This guide was checked on November 6, 2026; a scheduled launch is still subject to an official change, not to countdown websites or retailer placeholders.
PlayStation Support specifies midnight local time on November 19 for PS5. Windows Central reports the same local-time launch arrangement for both console families. Use the countdown shown by your own platform account as the final check for your entitlement and territory, rather than assuming every country unlocks at one simultaneous instant.

Which consoles are listed?
Confirmed
Rockstar names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Sony lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced and explicitly says it is not playable on PlayStation 4. Xbox’s official page lists Xbox Series X|S. These platform listings are a compatibility statement, not a promise of matching resolution, frame rate or graphical settings across consoles.
If you already own a compatible console, the useful next step is checking your library and available storage. A listing for the previous game on another device does not make that device a supported platform for GTA VI.

Standard and Ultimate editions
Confirmed
PlayStation Support lists Standard and Ultimate editions. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement describes Ultimate as an edition with premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action connected to Jason and Lucia’s story. We do not turn that broad description into an invented item-by-item inventory or extra mission list.
That announcement gave US prices of $79.99 for the base game and $99.99 for Ultimate. Those are announcement prices, not a current quote for every region, tax arrangement or storefront. Read the edition comparison and total displayed in your own regional store before making a decision.

What code-in-box means
Confirmed
PlayStation Support says the physical Code-In-Box version contains a game download code and no disc. It also describes a Standard-to-Ultimate upgrade option through PlayStation Store. Do not assume a box is a way to skip the download, and do not confuse a game code with physical installation media.
Take-Two’s announcement and November reporting say retail code-in-box availability begins November 12. Actual retailer fulfilment is not guaranteed by this fan guide. If a code is missing or unreadable, Sony directs players to the retailer; never post the code in a public support thread.

The preload date changed after the early announcement

The June pre-order announcement said digital preloading would begin November 12. The current Rockstar site now says November 10, and PlayStation’s support page confirms November 10 at midnight local time on PS5. Our preload guide uses this newer information rather than repeating the older press release.
For Xbox, VGC and Windows Central report a November 10 opening at 00:00 GMT. That is 08:00 on November 10 in Asia/Shanghai (UTC+8). Preloading prepares the download; it does not give early access to the story.

What this announcement does not establish
Not officially confirmed
The official platform pages reviewed here do not announce a PC release date, Windows requirements or a Nintendo version. Neither edition wording nor a GTA+ promotion is evidence of a new GTA VI multiplayer mode. Keep those questions separate from the confirmed console launch.
